FAQs

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

If you're feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, stuck in repetitive thoughts or behaviors, or struggling with your relationship with food, therapy can help. Many people wait until they're in crisis, but you don't need to be at rock bottom to benefit from support. If your symptoms are interfering with work, relationships, or daily life—even a little—it's worth reaching out.

Do you only work with OCD, anxiety, and eating disorders?

No! Not exclusively, but those are my areas of specialty. I also address many things that co-occur with anxiety, such as depression, sleep issues, or general life challenges (such as life transitions, relationship issues, etc). If there is a different concern you would like to address in therapy, I’d be happy to discuss whether I’d be a good fit or help you find someone else.

I'm nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?

Absolutely. Most people feel anxious about their first session—you're not alone. It takes courage to reach out, and feeling nervous about opening up to someone new is completely natural. I understand this, and we'll go at your pace. Many clients tell me they feel relief after just scheduling their first appointment.

Do you specialize in OCD? My thoughts aren't about germs or organizing.

Yes, I specialize in all types of OCD, including "Pure O" where compulsions are mental rather than visible. OCD can involve intrusive thoughts about harm, relationships, identity, morality, and many other themes. Whether your OCD involves checking, counting, mental reviewing, or seeking reassurance, I'm trained in evidence-based treatments that can help.

What is ERP and how does it work?

Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. It involves gradually facing your fears while learning not to engage in compulsions. We'll start small and work at your pace. While it sounds scary, ERP is done compassionately and collaboratively—you're always in control of the process.

How much will therapy cost me?

With insurance, most clients pay a copay of $20-40 per session after meeting their deductible. Without insurance, my rate is $175 per 50-minute session. I'll help you understand your exact costs before we begin. Financial concerns shouldn't prevent you from getting help—let's discuss options during our consultation.
